It’s been a while since I last posted but the COVID pandemic threw a spanner into many of our plans. Although I had collected all the data from the 2018 survey I was interrupted during the analysis and writing bit and never properly got back to it. However, I have decided to return to the survey and in fact do a follow-up study to compare musicians’ attitudes and perceptions about copyright before and after the pandemic. I have also added a few questions about artificial intelligence since that has become rather a thing lately.

The goal of this research is to collect information about what musicians, music students, and industry executives in the United States know about copyright and AI, and how they feel about it, in order to eventually develop awareness and education programs.
